The entire crew loaded and prepared to fire the cannons as Barbossa had ordered. The next morning as the Providence sailed through the ocean towards the island on which the Fountain of Youth was located, three Spanish galleons were sighted off the starboard side of the ship. The sailor, Groves, Gillette, Barbossa and Gibbs all prepared to leave the next morning. Having memorised the way to the Fountain of Youth from the map, he had to be kept alive in order to lead them to it. As Barbossa asked if Gibbs had anything to offer him, he presented a map, but quickly set on fire. In 1750, the night before the HMS Providence would set out for the legendary Fountain of Youth, the sailor was present as the pirate-turned Privateer Hector Barbossa, Lieutenant Commander Theodore Groves and Lieutenant Gillette interrogated Joshamee Gibbs, the first mate of the pirate Jack Sparrow. This man was a sailor who served as part of the British Royal Navy aboard the HMS Providence, residing in London, England.
